Obituary

Edward William Eskie passed away in his home September 14, 2015 at age 89.

Ed was born July 6, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio the second son of Ference Iski (AKA Frank Eski) and Ilona Fuzi (AKA Helen Fuzy) both Hungarian immigrants. Within a few years the family relocated to the Detroit area and settled in Dearborn Michigan where his father started work in the Ford Motor Company steel foundry.

Ed attended Fordson High School in Dearborn, and then joined the Coast Guard in 1943 serving on the USS Wakefield, a destroyer escort in the Pacific Theater. While home on leave in the spring of 1945 he married his high school girl friend, Vivian, who lived on the same block when they were growing up.

After his service in World War II, returning as a disabled vet, he completed his education through the GI bill and began a long career in the advertising business working his way up to account executive for McCann Erickson and later J. Walter Thompson, handling primarily the Detroit automobile accounts.

The family lived in Dearborn where his three children were born, and later Northville, Michigan where his children graduated from high school before retiring to Florida in 1971 as a resident of Deerfield Beach and later Hobe Sound.

Ed is survived by his oldest son, Victor Edward Eskie of Ilwaco, Washington and his daughter, Gail Eskie Venner of Bend, Oregon. Included in the group are four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren all living in Oregon.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Vivian McEwen Eskie a son Michael Dennis Eskie, a brother Frank Eskie, a half-brother Joe Frank and a half-sister Barbara Eskie.

Edward's remains will be placed with his wife in the Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend, Oregon.
