Edward L. Ewald, 75, of Jensen Beach, Florida and Canton Township, Michigan, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, he had been former resident of Jensen Beach, until becoming a "snowbird" in 2000, spending summers in Michigan and wintering on the Atlantic Ocean in Jensen Beach.
Prior to his retirement, he was the Fire Chief of the Redford Township Fire Department in Michigan, where he served for 29 years, and earning the rank of Chief.
Ed served with the United States Army, during the Vietnam War era.
He was a member of Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach and Saint Thomas A'Becket Catholic Church in Canton, Michigan, where he was a member of the Men's club of the Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nancy A. Ewald, of Jensen Beach, and Canton Township; one son, Edward L. Ewald, Jr., of Wixom, Michigan; two daughters, Paula A. Mitera, of Redford Township, and Nicole A. Koviak, of Canton Township; one sister, Barbara J. Burr, of Brighton, Michigan; and nince grandchildren, Joseph Mitera, Kathryn Mitera, Jordan Ewald, Morgan Ewald, Jackson Ewald, Connor Koviak, Cassidy Koviak, Jeffery Koviak, and Jillian Koviak.
Services and Interment will be at a later date in Michigan.
