Obituary

Edward Lawrence Hammond, born July 1, 1956, in Dayton, Kentucky, entered into eternal rest on November 4, 2025, in Okeechobee, Florida.

Born to Thomas Lafayette Hammond and Nahla Varina Hammond, Ed grew up as the eldest in a large, close-knit family. From an early age, he displayed a steady sense of leadership and responsibility — qualities that would define the man he became.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1979, where he embraced the values of honor, courage, and commitment. These principles guided him throughout his life.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lafayette Hammond and Nahla Varina Hammond, as well as his siblings Danny Hammond, De La Verne Wong, Delores "Mousie" Talbott, and Tommy Hammond.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, and six siblings: Andrea Christie (Dan), Patty Willen, Yolanda Cole (Phil), Linda Leidel (Rusty), Candy Scott, and Brian Foster (Manda) — each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Ed's greatest pride and joy were his daughters:
Angel Duncan, Gini Summerall (Chris), and Kimi Summerall (Daniel).

He also leaves behind four cherished granddaughters — Kailey, Presley, Nicole, and Autumn — who brought him endless love and laughter.

Ed was known for his humor, kindness, and quiet strength — qualities that made him the rock of his family. He loved playing the guitar, sharing laughter, and spending time surrounded by the people he loved most.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward the warmth and love he gave so freely.
His legacy of service, and devotion to family will live on in every heart he touched.
