Obituary

Edward C. Parker, 91, of The Sheridan at Hobe Sound, Florida passed to heaven September 16, 2020.

Born April 23, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts to Christian William and Martha (Rudolph) Aspacher, Edward was the youngest brother of Martha, Clara, William, Arthur and Louise.  His parents and siblings precede him.  He grew up in Jamaica Plain in the Depression era and graduated from Boston Technical High School.

Devoted husband to Ann M. (Smith) Parker whom he married on September 9, 1950 at First Congregational Church, they began their married life in a triple decker in Jamaica Plain, MA, and had just marked their 70th anniversary.  They were blessed with three sons whom they raised in Braintree, MA: Bruce (Sandy) Parker of Naples, FL, Steven (Shari) Parker of Wilmington, MA and James (Judy) Parker of Dewittville, NY.  Steven predeceased his father in 2019.  Edward taught his sons by example the importance of hard work, placing priority on faith and family and to always have a carton of ice cream in the freezer.

Loving grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 19, he delighted in visiting them around the country. They are left to cherish his memory.

Edward served honorably as an Army Sergeant in the Communications division during the Korean War.  He was a proud 60+ year member of Sheet Metal Workers International Union Local 17 having fashioned and installed artisan copper work on the State House in Boston and other historic buildings.

Upon retirement, Eddie and Ann moved to Hobe Sound and embraced the Florida lifestyle including becoming competitive shuffleboard players.  He relished a good game of cards, watching a Red Sox or Patriots game and was an enthusiastic gardener who always kept an eye on the weather.

Eddie lived to serve others as a dedicated family man, trustworthy friend, commu nity contributor and patriot. He was a member of Hobe Sound United Methodist Church, Cambridge Men's Club, VFW Post 10132, a Mason, and most recently, a resident of The Sheridan.  His family wishes to thank the staff there for their friendship, kindness and loving attention.

Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.  His memorial service will be held at a later date.  Charitable contributions may be made in his memory to Hobe Sound United Methodist Church, 10100 SE Federal Hwy, Hobe Sound, FL 33455.
