IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elaine
Gallagher
November 29, 1942 – July 6, 2025
Elaine Gallagher, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old.
Born in Niagara Falls, New York, Elaine was the cherished daughter of Eunice and Gordon Anderson and sister to Jackie and Dennis, both of whom preceded her in death. A proud graduate of LaSalle High School, Elaine was an exceptional student and a member of the synchronized swim ballet team. Her academic journey continued at the University of Buffalo and later at Mount Saint Mary's School of Nursing, where she fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.
Elaine's path to nursing was not a straight one. After high school, she worked at the phone company but never let go of her dream. Her determination and resilience led her back to college, where she pursued a distinguished and expansive career in nursing. Over the decades, Elaine served in nearly every facet of healthcare—including Labor & Delivery, ICU, CCU, psychiatric care, emergency medicine, cardiology, nephrology, infectious disease, and correctional health. One of her proudest achievements was helping launch the paramedic training program for firefighters in Broward County, Florida.
Elaine and her family relocated to Florida in 1972, a place she came to call home for the next 53 years. There, she raised her children, built lasting friendships, and served her community with compassion and integrity.
Elaine married the love of her life, Dennis Gallagher, on October 23, 1965. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. She was the devoted mother of Edward (Carol) and Chad (Gina), and the adoring grandmother of Erin, Aiden, Kathleen, and Fiorello. She is also preceded in death by her grandson Kevin, whom she dearly loved and never forgot.
Elaine is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Susan Anderson, Rosemary McCune, Nancy Toarino, and Sharon McMahon. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law David Gallagher.
Elaine's life was one of service—to her patients, to her family, to her church, and to her community. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and a committed member of the Daughters of the King, a prayer and service group within the Episcopal Church.
Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Elaine was a gifted crafter and quilter, creating cherished handmade gifts for loved ones. She taught her grandchildren how to sew, passing on her skills and creativity to the next generation. An avid reader, Elaine found joy in quiet moments with a good book and treasured the comfort of her home.
Elaine is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Gordon (Janice), Cindy, Michael, and Monica; and by her great-nieces and nephews: Jonathon, Jeremy, Jill, Cailey, Colby, Katarina, Johanna, Jasmine, and Jackie. She was preceded in death by her niece Kathleen.
Elaine will be remembered for her integrity, her compassion, her sharp wit, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the patients she healed, and the children and grandchildren she nurtured with unwavering love and honesty.
Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Episcopal Church of the Nativity – Memorial Garden Fund 1151 SW Del Rio Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL 34953
