Elayne Ruth Borland, 69, passed away on October 24, 2016. Born in Maryland, Elayne held degrees from Towson University and Johns Hopkins University. Elayne retired in 1999 after 30 years of teaching high school politics, economics and U.S. history. A lifelong lover of the arts, Elayne was the chair of the entertainment committee of the Cascades and published a book of original poetry, Sea-Renities. She is survived by Robert Borland, her husband of 45 years; their daughter and her husband, Bonnie and Patrick Farrah; and their grandson, Weston Farrah. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on October 30, 2016 at the Borlands' home at the Cascades in St. Lucie West. A service will be held at 4:30pm on November 1, 2016 at Living Lord Lutheran Church in Vero Beach.
