Eldon Wells Jones, 83, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 3, 2015, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Born in Orangeburg, Florida, he had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie, for seven years, coming from Sanibel Island, Florida.
Wells worked for the City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as a Landscape Architect, enjoying designing parks and golf courses. He received his Masters in Landscape Design form the University of Florida, and was instrumental in the design of Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, as well as planning and layout of Bush Gardens.
He loved to travel in his motor home and was a huge football fan. He wrote "Football Widows Rejoice", a book to help women understand the game of football.
Survivors include his wife, Olimpia Jones, of Port Saint Lucie; two sons, Mike Jones, and his wife, Beverly, of Asheville, North Carolina, and James Jones, also of Asheville; one daughter, Andrea Voisey, of Boone, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Tommy, Stephen, Tony, Mathew, and Bethany; and two great-grandchildren, J. Wells and Elijah.
Services and Interment will be private at the convenience of the family from the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory of Stuart.
