Eleanor Mary
Woodward
December 17, 1936 – May 23, 2026
Eleanor Mary Woodward, 89, passed away peacefully and went to heaven on May 23 at sunset.
Eleanor was born on December 17, 1936, in New York City to the late Mary and Alfred Zadow. She spent her early years in the city before moving with her family to Huntington, Long Island, New York, during her teenage years. After graduating from high school, she married Ronald B. King. Though their marriage ended in divorce, Eleanor later remarried and eventually found lasting companionship with Woody Woodward, also of Huntington.
Eleanor and Woody remained in Huntington until the early 1980s, when they relocated to Stuart, Florida. She continued to live in the area for the rest of her life.
Throughout her years in both Huntington and Stuart, Eleanor worked as a nurse’s aide in local hospitals. She deeply enjoyed caring for others and formed many lasting friendships through her work. She remained employed until her retirement around 2005.
Eleanor loved traveling, especially to Hawaii and Key West. She frequently returned to New York to attend Broadway shows with her beloved sister. In her later years, she resided at Riverclub in Rio, Florida, where she developed cherished relationships with Paula Edwards and Doug Ashley, whose kindness, friendship, and support were instrumental during the final stages of her life.
She is survived by her three sons: Ronald B. King Jr. of Huntington, New York; Kenneth King of Pendleton, South Carolina; and Richard T. King of Pompano Beach, Florida. She is also survived by two grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth Luyster of Huntington, New York; and her niece and nephew, Carrie Luyster Meyer and Todd Luyster.
Eleanor's ashes will be scattered at Shagwong Point in New York and off the shores of Treasure Cay in the Bahamas—two of her most treasured beaches and places of peace.
Eleanor will be remembered for her caring heart, dedication to her family and friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her years. Her memory will live on in all who knew and loved her.
