Obituary

Elizabeth Mae "Betty" Belcher, 82, of Stuart, Florida, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart of esophageal cancer.

Born in North New Portland, Maine, Betty became a Registered Nurse, receiving her training at the Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston. She married Robert "Bob" Belcher in 1952 and settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts where she raised three children and managed the family business. She worked at Cable Memorial Hospital, was Director of Nursing at Caldwell Nursing Home, a Bay Area Visiting Nurse, and was a founding member of the Association of Great Neck of Ipswich.

Betty and Bob wintered in Florida for many years before becoming permanent residents of Stuart ten years ago. She enjoyed living at the Riverland Community on South Kanner Highway and was involved with her friends in the Community Association.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bob Belcher, of Stuart and her children; Carol Weintraub and her husband, Joseph; Barbara Amundsen and her partner, Sherrie; and Steven Belcher and his wife, Bambi, all residing in Massachusetts; her sister, Martha Gaudet and her husband, David, of Palm City, Florida; brother James Fenlason, and his wife, Linda, of Springfield, Massachusetts; and three grandchildren, Sarah Weintraub, and Harley and Sean Amundsen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou, twin sister to Martha.

A Service to Celebrate her Life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 4:00 PM at the Riverland Clubhouse, 3500 S. Kanner Highway, Stuart, Florida with interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, Massachusetts to take place in the spring.
