Ellen T. Marques of Stuart, Florida, passed away after a lengthy illness on July 21, 2026, at the age of 84. Formerly of Massachusetts, she was born to Bartholomew and Margaret O’Connor in 1941. One of seven siblings, she is survived by her five sisters—Mary, Carol, Margaret, Sheila, and Brenda—and was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel, and her parents.

Ellen devoted 11 years to the order of Sisters of Notre Dame, entering in 1959. During this time, she inspired countless students as she taught English and Spanish. After returning to secular life, Ellen enjoyed many successes in her professional career. Upon retirement from Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. in Boston, MA, Ellen spent a few years working for Electronic Data Systems in their Boston office.

Ellen married the love of her life, Joseph A. Marques III, in 1978 and settled in Hanson, MA, where she was active in her church, St. Joseph the Worker. The two moved to Plymouth, then to Oakpoint in Middleboro, where Ellen was involved in the association and theater. They then relocated to Florida, where they enjoyed the sun and continued rooting for Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox. Joseph passed away in 2012, and they are now reunited.

In addition to Ellen's sisters, she is survived by her beloved stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
