Obituary

Elsie Gordon passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Stuart, Florida, at the age of 93.

At her request, no services will be held.

Elsie was born July 30, 1924 in Spring Lake, New Jersey, to parents Earle and Elsie Wightman, and moved as a teenager to Coral Gables, Florida.

As a proud member of the "Greatest Generation", she did her part, working for Pan Am airlines and assisting in the war efforts of the day. During that time, Elsie met and became married to U.S. Navy Ensign Oscar Lee Gordon, who preceded her in death in 2001 after 56 years of marriage.

Elsie was an inveterate beachcomber, animal lover, and garage sale queen, who loved to collect shells and various eccentricities when time allowed. Elsie resided in Delray Beach for 32 years, where she made numerous lifelong friends. Raising three children, she was the consummate mother, with no task was too daunting or demanding when it came to serving her family.

Elsie is survived by her sons Richard Gordon (Sara), Alan Gordon (Phyllis), and her daughter Helen Gordon Eaton (Keith), along with grandchildren, Benjamin Gordon, Jessica Gordon, Isobel Gordon, Ryan Page and Olivia Page.

In lieu of flowers, contributions as a memorial may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, Guiding Eyes for the Blind (seeing eye dog charity), Save the Chimps, or any worthy charity for war veterans or animals.
