Everett E. Cole, Sr, 82, of Vilas, North Carolina, died suddenly at the home of his daughter in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
A snowbird for the last twenty years, he was born in Boone, North Carolina, wintering in Port Saint Lucie to escape the cold weather.
An Korean War Veteran, he served his Country honorably in the United States Army.
Prior to his retirement, he was a Machine Operator with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
A Mason, he was a member of the Snow Lodge #363 F&AM in Boone and also a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Boone, where he served as a Deacon for 40 years.
Survivors include is beloved wife, of 63 years, Jean B. Cole, of Vilas; one son, Eddie Cole, and his wife, Tomoko, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; two daughters, Jimmie Ann Yates, of Port Saint Lucie, and Linda Councill, of Boone; one brother, Clarence Cole, of Boone; five grandchildren, Chris Greene, of Vilas, Amanda Dickerson, and her husband, Hill, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Cody Councill, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jonathan Cole, of Japan, and Justin Cole, of Faquay-Varina; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan Greene, and Ava and Hadley Dickerson.
The Family will receive friends Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 1-2:30 PM at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, 306 Oak Grove Road, Boone, North Carolina 28607, where a Service to Celebrate His life will offered by Pastor Michael Gragg and begin at 2:30pm.
