Florence Vander Kooy, 93, better known by those who loved her as "Flossie" of Jensen Beach, Florida passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior and Lord on Thanksgiving Day morning, November 26, 2020 at Tiffany Hall, Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Born in the Netherlands, she had been a resident of Nettles Island, Jensen Beach for 12 years coming from Port St. Lucie.  Prior to retiring she had been in sales and marketing for Fris' Stationers in Holland Michigan.

Flossie was known as a cook extraordinarie and relished making mouthwatering dishes for family and friends. Her outgoing personality and hearty laugh made her a true friend on Nettles Island. She was immensely proud of her three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She spoke of a fierce love of Jesus and was most grateful that all of her family loved Jesus as much as she did. Despite Flossie's slimness of body, she was a giant for her Lord. And her last day, she repeatedly said, "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!"

Survivors include her sons Steven Oostdyk ,  Michael Oostdyk and his wife Lynda , brothers John Buursma and his wife Barbara, Andrew Buursma and his wife Patricia.  She is survived by 7 grandchildren (Kristen Cruz, Todd Oostdyk, Heather Tosi, Kim Paulsen, Mark Oostdyk, Victoria Ryan and Beth Graves) and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Ryan, her husband Simon Vander Kooy, her sister, Kathleen Lambers, and her brother, Rev. William D. Buursma.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, at 9:30 am in the Rec Hall on Nettles Island.
