Fred Baxter, 99, of Hobe Sound, Florida passed away at Treasure Coast Hospice on March 31, 2017 with his son Phillip by his side.

Mr. Baxter was drafted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1942. He served honorably during his service as a radio operator working on primarily the WWII B25 Mitchell Bomber until 1945. He met the love of his life, Trudy Robinson, who also served as an Army WAC., Fred excelled in the field of avionics, he enjoyed working in the cockpit.

After leaving the military, Fred went to work for a company at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey working on cockpit radios, one of his best customers was Actor Arthur Godfrey. Fred was a draftsman, he made the plans by hand. Fred and Trudy moved in 1967 and again in 1978 to Florida to work for the Sikorsky Aircraft Company designing radio avionics for helicopters.

After Fred retired, he loved to ride his bicycle and sit quietly with his cat, MO.

Mr. Baxter is survived by his son Phil Baxter of Hobe Sound, Florida, grandson; Corey Baxter and great grandchildren; Claire Baxter and Flynn Waylon Baxter.

Military, Air Force Honors will be observed at South Florida National Cemetery on Thursday, April 13th, 2017 at 1 PM., with Pastor L.C. Campbell officiating.
