IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald A.
Morrone
January 18, 1943 – June 18, 2024
On the morning of June 18, 2024, Jerry passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Jerry was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and met Becky, the love of his life, soon after being stationed in Pensacola, FL, and married her within 6 months. Jerry served on the USS Independence aircraft carrier and saw the world. He returned home and he began his career on Wall Street as a computer programmer, forming his own company. They lived in Saddlebrook, New Jersey, in the cutest small town, perfect for raising their family. He moved his family to Florida in 1976, worked at Pratt & Whitney for several years, then opened a restaurant with family and then finally moved into the food catering business. He could do anything and everything and pretty much did it all. They moved often, partly based on Becky's gypsy ways, and always ready to follow the next set of grandchildren being born.
Jerry is predeceased by his wife, Becky, his granddaughter Amanda, his mother and father, Lorretta and Tony, and by his brother and sisters, Vinnie, Claire and Marie. He is survived by his beloved children: Tony (Patti) and Cindy (Dean DiVincent) and his more beloved grandchildren: Ryan and Bekah, Kacy, Nick and Sammi, and by his most beloved great grandchildren: Evan, Austyn, Carter, Camrin, Will, and Jordan.
Jerry was the consummate Italian patriarch over his family. In every new town he moved to, he would seek out the best Italian bakery, and squeeze the bread. He never met a dessert that didn't need more raisins. In every home he ever lived in, he built "Jerry's Bar" – out of the back of closets, on patios, or whatever corner he could find. He was the king of his domain behind his bar, where all of us spent time at one time or another, and just like a good bartender, he was funny, endearing and could solve all of your problems. He was always a hands-on family man – at every baseball game, dance recital, school award ceremony. He lived to support and love on his family, and devoted his whole life to it.
Jerry will be recognized at the American Legion Post 318 with a 21 gun salute on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Address for the American Legion is: 1000 Savanna Club Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952
