Obituary

Gloria Rhodenizer Sanders (Rhodie) of Stuart, Florida and Bertie Bay, Ontario, Canada, died April 8th, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

Rhodie was born in 1924 in Newton, Massachusetts to Lee A. Rhodenizer and Jane M. MacCormack.

She attended school in Rockland, Massachusetts and graduated from Wellesley College in 1947.

Many wonderful summers were spent in Nova Scotia with her stepmother, Alva Gillespie Rhodenizer, and later in Bertie Bay, Ontario, with her beloved family and husband, Robert A. Sanders, who predeceased her in 1981. After the death of her husband, Rhodie relocated to Florida and traveled extensively with her daughter, Barbara.

She was a lover of art, gardening, travel, cooking, and reading - but most of all loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rhodie will be remembered for her marvelous sense of humor and infinite wisdom.

She is survived by her devoted daughters - Barbara Sanders, and her husband, David Clark, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and Gloria Amenta, and her husband, Sebastian, of Southington, Connecticut, sons, Robert Sanders, Jr., and his wife, Audrey, of Buffalo, New York, and Lee Sanders, and his wife, Sunnie Ann, of Big Pine Key, Florida. Five grandchildren had the pleasure of knowing and loving her and will miss her dearly - Robert and David Amenta and Austin, Atley, and Henry Sanders.

A Celebration of Rhodie's Life will be held at the family home in Bertie Bay, Ontario.

Contributions as a Memorial may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
