Gregory Carlyle Kennedy passed away after a long hard battle with cancer on May 19, 2016 at Treasure Coast Hospice House. He was surrounded in love by his wife, Diane, daughter, Cheryl, and sister, Sandy.

Greg was born May 10, 1950, in Alton, Illinois. He was the first born child of Cletus Kennedy and Doris Hunt (Kennedy), both deceased.

Greg's father had an employment that had the family relocating frequently. Greg often said in 9 years he had lived in 6 places. The family settled in Merritt Island where Greg completed high school and made lifetime friendships.

Greg continued his education to acquire an associates degree in electrical engineering. He was employed at Harbor Branch Oceanographic designing ROV programs and electrical components for the submarine program. He does have patents in his name for his designs. He travelled to the Great Lakes, Bahamas, Panama and Galapagos as part of the marine research programs. Greg also participated in the Challenger recovery mission in 1986.

In 2005 Greg left Harbor Branch and shortly thereafter was asked to join what became Triton Submarines. Greg's expertise in electrical design and engineering helped move the company forward as a leader in personal submersibles. Unfortunately, cancer was discovered and Greg reluctantly retired from a life he loved to battle the disease.

Greg wanted to fulfill his dream of travel with Diane. They enjoyed Florida and the Blue Ridge Mountains and New England fall colors before the illness affected traveling.

Since his young teens, Greg always loved music. Self taught with a natural ear for music, he played guitar and sang in teen bands. He continued playing with his friends Frank, Peter and Charlie up until two weeks before passing. They kept him happy and his soul in a good place, away from the cancer, for a few hours of fun.

Greg's passing saddens his family and many friends. He leaves behind his wife, Diane, daughter, Cheryl Hollers, sisters, Sandy Grizzle and Dee Anne Graham and cousin, Carla Pilliwalli. Greg has 3 grandchildren and was recently blessed with a great grandson.

Greg's final wishes included direct cremation with a celebration of life.

A Celebration of His Life will take place on Saturday. June 25, 2016 from 3-7:00 pm at the Endless Summer Vineyard and Winery, 4200 Johnston Road. Fort Pierce, Florida (endlesssummer.com). Greg always wanted a casual get together party with bands, music, dancing, family and friends
