H. Scott (Scooter) Newman, 50, of Palm City, Florida, passed away on Friday morning, September 2, 2016 following a short illness at Martin Memorial Hospital, Florida.

Scott was born in Kingston, NY on May 14, 1966 to Patricia J. (Re) Jordan, and the late Hon. Robert W. Jordan, who recently passed away. Scott officiated the funeral service for his dad on August 17, 2016 in Ulster Park, a fitting tribute Scott proudly planned and conducted.

A Kingston High School Graduate, Class of 1984, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. Scott started his musical career playing organ at the age of 3 and continued throughout his entire life. He masterfully played the church organ for many religious and funeral services in the Kingston area, and most recently was the musical director of The Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in his hometown of Palm City, Fla.

Scott was an avid NY Islanders and Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed his work as a "DJ" at many social events, and being on the water on his wave runner. He formerly worked for the Correction's Division of Ulster County Sheriff's Office, and as a Police Dispatcher for the Town of Ulster Police Dept., the Ulster County 911 Center, and the City of Kingston Police Dept., before retiring in 2013 and moving to Palm City, Fla.

In addition to his mother Patricia, he is also survived by two brothers, Michael and his wife Tammy of Clayton, NC, and Michael Jordan of Kingston, two sisters, Tracy Zipp and her husband Michael of Kingston, and Susan Whittaker and her husband Rodney of Ulster Park, his Aunts Flo Gressing of NJ, Paula Rainey of Texas, and Flo Brandt of Hurley, and Uncles James Freese and his wife Sharon of Vermont, and George Jordan of Stuart, Fla. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his Aunt Michelle Haubert, Uncle Billy Gressing, and Grandparents Helois and Beatrice Re, George and Florence Jordan, and Lillian Johnson.

The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 am, Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City.
