Harold F. Jones, Jr., 86, of Indiantown, Florida.
September 26, 1927 - March 14, 2014
After a period of failing health, Harold F. Jones (affectionately referred to as Buddy) passed away on March 14, 2014. A Bristol, Connecticut native, Harold was the third of 16 children born to Harold F. and Rita S. Jones. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and then in the United States Naval Reserves. He was a toolmaker at Arthur G. Russell Company, in Bristol, until retiring in 1992.
In 2008, Harold married Jessie, who brought great joy to his life. They were devoted to each other, and enjoyed traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Having earned his pilot's license, Harold enjoyed taking friends and family for airplane rides around New England. Many summers were spent at his home on Lake Champlain, and included fishing and golfing. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and UCONN Basketball.
He was a loving son and brother who always found ways to support and stay connected with family. Known for the guarantee of teasing, he was a favorite uncle, Uncle Buddy', to more than 100 nieces and nephews as well as a compassionate father figure to many. His compassion extended to four legged friends - including his beloved Missy, and Jilly, who shared many of his recent days. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by 9 brothers and sisters including: Theodore Jones of LaBelle, Florida, Maud and Alan Murray and George and Kathy Jones of Bradenton, Florida and Patricia Robichaud of Auburn, Maine. Jean Billington, Jay Jones and James Jones all of Bristol, Connecticut. Rodney and Susan Jones of Griswold, Connecticut and Bruce and Kim Jones of Graham, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, Harold is predeceased by his siblings: Verlie Wallace, Phyllis Taylor, Carlene Mule', Merle Jones, Park Jones and Wayne Jones.
A Service to Celebrate his Life will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 90 church Avenue, Bristol, Connecticut 06010, followed by interment with Military Honors and Presentation of the Flag at the Forestville Cemetery, 36 Circle Street in Bristol.
