ATAS, Harriet, age 80 of Palm City, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House, Fort Pierce, FL. Harriet was born May 07, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late Samuel and Dorothy Shapos. Along with her husband Herbert Atas, Harriet moved to the Palm City, FL. Area 20 years ago from Maryland. She loved her family dearly & was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. On July 23, 1953, Harriet was united in marriage to her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Herbert Atas who preceded her in death in June, 2013. Harriet leaves to cherish her memories her son Marc (Sarah) Atas of Baltimore, MD; daughters, Shelley (Tim) Chinskey of Westminster, MD and Ellen (Cliff Ehlers) Atas of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; grandchildren, Erik Atas, Joseph Atas, Kelsey Chinskey, Joshua Brusca and Erin Burns; brother, Charles Atas of Crownsville, MD; sister Irene Pfeffer (Richy) of Palm City, FL. Per her wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013, 2 p.m. at the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home (950 SE Monterey Rd; Stuart, FL 34994). Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (3333 Forest Hill Blvd; West Palm Beach, FL 33406).
