IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herman John
Jacobs Jr.
July 1, 1931 – September 6, 2023
Herman John Jacobs Jr. (Jay), 92, passed away on September 6, 2023 in Stuart, Florida.
Born July 1, 1931 to Herman John and Helen Florence (Gilbert) Jacobs in Denver, Colorado, he and his younger brother Charles lived a rambunctious and mischievous life. Their early days provide many fun family stories.
Jay was a resident of Stuart, Florida from 1972 until 2005, then moved to Morristown, Tennessee where he lived with Wanda Murphy and they enjoyed the cooler weather, change of seasons and the country roads that could be meandered for miles.
Prior to retiring in 1972 as a Lieutenant Commander, Jay served in the United States Coast Guard where he was stationed in the Philippines and throughout the U.S. He continued to work, most notably as a boat mechanic, before moving to Tennessee.
Jay leaves three children with his former wife Jean McDonald Jacobs: Lisa Jacobs Massing (Jay Bunk) and Monte Jay Jacobs of Stuart and Katrinka Jacobs Sloan (Dwayne) of Sarasota, Florida. He was lovingly referred to as Jay Jay by his seven grandchildren and three great grandsons.
Jay is predeceased by his parents and brother Charles Herbert Jacobs.
Jay was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he cared for his family in his own way. He was always willing to help his children and instilled a strong work ethic and sense of curiosity. He had a unique sense of humor that each of his children and a few grandchildren have inherited. He was full of knowledge gained through all of his life experiences and could fix or build anything.
He will be remembered for living his life on his terms and will be missed dearly.
In true Jay fashion, there are no services planned, as he never liked too much fuss.
Please feel free to share a remembrance or message of condolence with the family through this online guestbook.
