Hugo Gastaldi of Lost Lake, Hobe Sound, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2015.

Predeceased by his wife Carol Brockmeier Gastaldi and his parents Hugo and Mary Dispenza Gastaldi, he was 83 years old having been born in West New York, New Jersey in April of 1932. He was also predeceased by an older sister Joan.Hugo.

He graduated Fordham University followed by a tour-of-duty as an Army Sargent in post-World War II Germany and Europe.

His family knows him to have been a great adventurer having learned to ski in the Swiss Alps; crewed on the Sitzmark in two transatlantic races, and also in the Bermuda races for several years. In his youth he built his own sailboat, the Penguin, which he raced on the Hudson River in Nyack, New York. Belonging to a ski club in the Northeast for many decades, he also skied the Green and Taconic Mountains of Vermont, adding Calgary and Aspen to his expeditions. He was also an avid golfer and member of the Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound.

He leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Deanna Nassan Gastaldi of Stuart, Florida; two nieces Patricia Lineaweaver Williams (Jim) of Wallingford, Connecticut, and Linda Gastaldi Lynch (Scott) of Chatham, New Jersey, and Hobe Sound; two nephews Jeffrey John Lineaweaver (Kathy) of Greenfield Center, New York, and Robert Gastaldi, Jr. of Suffern, New York. Additionally, he actively participated in the lives of his great-nieces and nephews, Lisa Williams Bartlett (Larry), Kristen Williams Riccardi (Jeffrey), and Ryan, Jennifer, and Scott Michael Lynch; and two great-great nieces Halle and Hanna Riccardi.

His family will remember him as a loving man who deeply touched their lives and those of others. He was charismatic, engaging, and always willing to do for others. His legacy has and will continue to impact generations.
