James Harrison Deal Jr. 83, passed away Sunday November 1, 2020, in Stuart, Florida. A resident of Port Saint Lucie, Florida since 1999, coming from Chesapeake, Virginia.
Jim was born in Norfolk, Va. to James Harrison Deal Sr. and Ella Warren Harrell Deal. He graduated from Maury High School. After graduating Jim began his career in plumbing, continuing his education at night school earning his Master Plumbing certification, specializing in commercial plumbing. He spent his career working on large government projects, prisons and large construction sites.
Left behind to miss him is his wife of 25 years, Maryann Godfrey Deal. In addition, his son, James H. Deal III, his step-children, Robert Hooks of Chesapeake Va., Harry (Skip) Ewing (Angela) of Crystal River FL., Michael Ewing (Marsha) of Stuart, FL. Deborah Ewing (Rickee) of Shermans Dale, PA., Nephews, Mark Hudgins of Norfolk, VA., Glenn Hudgins (Celia) of Carrsville, VA., and several grand-children and great grand-children.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Alice Warren Deal and Carrol Deal Hudgins.
A gentle giant by nature, Jim was not much of a talker but when he did talk, we listened. He had a big heart and a sharp mind. He loved his old westerns and war movies. He loved to "tinker" in his garage and ride his scooter cleaning up the yard. But his favorite activity was feeding treats to and tossing toys for his beloved toy poodle, Toby.
Arrangements are under the caring service of Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home in Stuart, Florida.
A celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 11:00 am at Covenant Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 2880 SE Aster Lane, Stuart, Florida, with Pastor Matt Price presiding. If planning on attending, please wear mask.
We would like to thank the staff at Salerno Bay Health and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of the Treasure Coast for the loving care Jim received, especially Nurse Corliss who went above and beyond. God Bless you all.
