Dr. James Henderson, 67, of Elizabeth, PA, passed away peacefully at his oceanfront home in FL in the arms of his loving wife, Dr. Terri Henderson, on Feb. 21, 2017, with family. He bravely battled melanoma for over two years. He was Prof. & Dir. of the Union Insti. & Univer. Ed.D. Program since 2007and a Disting. Visiting Scholar. Jim served at Duq. Univ. Schl. of Ed. 1992-2013, as Prof., Dean, and as Founding Dir. of the Duq Interdis. Doc. Prog. for Ed. Ldrs./Univ. Council for Ed. Admin's (UCEA) Center for Ed. Leader/Social Justice.
A prolific author, Jim was a teacher, adminis. and superin. He received the Duq. Univ. President's Award for Excellence in Service to the Mission of the Univ; Achieve. for Service by the PA Asso.of Schl Admin; the Rutgers Univ. Disting. Service Award; Superin.of theYear-PA Music Ed. Asso; Outstanding Research/Publica. Award-PA Asso. for Supervision/Curric.Dev; PA Jaycees Out. Edu. of the Year. He was aW.K. Kellogg Foun. Natl. Fellow. Jim's Bachelor in Social Psych-Princeton and Masters/Doc. Degrees in Ed Admin-Rutgers .
A Memorial Service will be held in Pittsburgh, PA on June 9 at 10am at the Duquesne Univ. Chapel. Contributions can be made to the Duq. Univ. Henderson Ed. Lead./Social Justice Fund.
