Obituary

James Sutton Power, Jr., "JP", 56, of Jensen Beach, Florida passed away suddenly, Thursday, December 24, 2015, at his home.

JP is survived by his wife, Lori Luebbe Power; his daughter, Kirsten Elizabeth Power; his son, James Sutton Power, III, "Tres"; his father, James Sutton Power; four sisters, ten sisters-in-law, eight brothers-in-law and twenty-three nieces and nephews. He spent the first fourteen years of his life in West Palm Beach, Florida and the last forty-two years in Martin County, Florida.

He attended Martin County High School, (class of 1978), played football (he loved to "hit"), served in the United States Marine Corp 1980-1984, and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Semper Fi. In 1984, JP transitioned from his military life into the family business with his father at JPA Insurance in Port St Lucie, Florida. He began his investment in this community and went on to become a boat captain, worked in security at Martin Health System and finally fulfilled his dream of becoming a Real Estate agent.

JP had three passions: Lori, his family, and fishing. At every opportunity JP longed to be around his family - the more the merrier. Every weekend, he and Lori looked forward to being out on the water with their tremendous community of friends, either fishing or enjoying the day at the sand bar.
When asked about him, his friends said that JP "gave the best hugs", "was always a true friend", "if he was your friend, he was your life-time friend" and "he had a heart of gold."

JP loved to travel! He and Lori took annual trips to Treasure Island, the Florida Keys, and house-boating in Kentucky. Some of their most memorable trips taken together were to Nicaragua, Europe, and a cruise to Alaska.

In January 2008, JP lost his only brother and best friend, Bob. This tragic loss kick-started JP's spiritual journey. As he questioned God and reached out to others secure in their faith, he was able to develop his own relationship and find peace with God.

In 2014 his mother, Marjorie Farmer Power, left him with these words, "You are a good man." These are the words he lived by the rest of his short life.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the Sea Winds Condominium Clubhouse, 10044 South Ocean Drive, Jensen Beach, Florida 34957.

This kind of service gives you a chance to share openly with Lori, his kids, and his family how much Jim meant to you.
With the suddenness of his passing we all need time to grieve and encourage one another as we walk this valley together. Feel free to call or message for further information. From our family to yours, we pray God's healing to replace your sadness. Jesus provides hope for the hopeless. Hang onto Him, He never fails.
