James ("JD") DeBula, Jr., 78, of Hobe Sound cast his final line on May 4, 2022.

Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to James DeBula, Sr. and Margaret Salimbene. JD was the oldest of four children with two sisters, Beckie and Jean, and a brother Bob. He and his wife, Susan, moved to Hobe Sound, Florida in 1972 where they raised their two children, Cyndi his favorite daughter and Bryan his favorite son.  Before retiring, JD worked as a pipefitter with the Local 630.

He could build or fix anything. All you had to do was ask, and he'd send you home with a wooden masterpiece from his workshop garage or build something for you from scratch and casually give it to you the next time he saw you. That gift would in all likelihood be accompanied by some fresh fish caught and cleaned that same morning because, as anyone who knew him could tell you, he was - and always will be - a fishing legend. That sound you heard the evening of May 4th, was the snapper in the river sighing with relief.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan, his daughter, Cyndi (Cynthia) and her husband, Troy Baines, his son, Bryan and his wife, Jennifer DeBula, and his four beloved grandchildren, Wolf Baines, Scout Baines, Finn Baines, and Jake DeBula, as well as his three siblings, nephews and nieces (especially the favorite one).

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 20 ^th from 3pm-6pm in Sandsprit Park, Pavillion #0, 3443 SE St Lucie Blvd, Stuart, FL 34997.
