JAMES H. PENDERGAST, 84, died October 4,2013 in Stuart, Florida. Born in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin where he was a member of Sigma Chi. After four years in the US Air Force, he spent 31 years with The Dow Chemical Company in Michigan, Ohio, Germany, Switzerland and Hong Kong. He retired as U.S. National Sales Manager and moved to Palm City, Florida in 1986 and was a consultant with Baker International Associates. He became a state ranked tennis player, enjoyed many bareboat sailing trips and treasured skiing with his beloved "Vailgabonds". While on the board of the Martin County Chapter of the American Red Cross, he served as Chairman 1992-94 and was honored with the Frances Langford Distinguished Service Award. He also served several years on the boards of Martin Memorial Health Systems and Martin Memorial Foundation. He was on the Lyric Theatre advisory board and a supporter of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra since its inception. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia, son James H. Pendergast III of Savannah, grandchildren Jimmy and Reagan Pendergast, Serena and Jesse Biggs, sisters Nancy Walkoe and Joan Bullis of Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Gibbons of Maine. There will be a Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 12,2013 at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1454 SW Mapp Road, Palm City.
