Jane “Karleen” Abarr

Karleen Abarr, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 8, 2026, in Florida, at the age of 87. She was born on January 31, 1939, and lived a life marked by faith, creativity, friendship, and deep devotion to her family.

Karleen found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. After pursuing a career in nursing, Karleen became a business owner of interior design and furniture. She loved quilting, playing mahjong, golfing, and playing bridge, and she treasured the friendships and laughter these activities brought her. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family, whose lives were enriched by her warmth, humor, and loving presence.

Karleen is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Debra, Stacey (Dee), and Christine (Scott); her five grandchildren, Meagan, Ian, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Spencer; and her five great-grandchildren, Oliver, Emma, Eloise, Joyeux and Noell. She is also remembered by her brother, Richard and her sisters, Marsha and Mary Lynne.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was actively involved in her church community at First Presbyterian. Through her kindness, service, and commitment, Karleen touched many lives and built lasting connections within her community.

A service honoring Karleen’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 2300 S. West Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57105 Falls, on September 19 at 2:00 p.m.

Karleen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly, the friendships she nurtured, and the many beautiful memories she leaves behind.
