Jean Hair Matthies, age 84 of Stuart, FL passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Sterling House Assisted Living Facility in Stuart, FL. Jean was born August 26, 1928 in Oxford, KS, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Spitler) Clowe. She moved her family from Oklahoma to Florida in 1960 and has been a resident here ever since, living in various parts of the state. She enjoyed going on family trips to the beach, especially Sanibel Island and Ormand Beach. Jean loved music, singing, dancing and just being happy. She also loved dogs and did a lot of charity work for the American Vets. Surviving are her 3 daughters, Deborah "Kasey" Hair of Stuart, FL, Dietra & George Walton of Richmond, VA, Denice & Ed (Belcher) Hair of Gulf Breeze, FL; grandchildren, Rich Frink, Kimberly Hair, Lauren Marble, Kristi Barnes, Kyle Walton, Marshall Chaney and Kelley Walton; great granddaughter, Trinity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Matthies; her son, Kenneth Hair and her 3 sisters. Per her wishes cremation has taken place and no public services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice (1201 SE Indian St; Stuart, FL 34997) or the Subway Dixon Rescue Fund (3364 Foley Cutoff Rd; Perry, FL 32348). Arrangements are by the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Stuart, FL.
