Jeanine Ellen Hodges (nee Barthiaume), 88, passed away after a short illness in Stuart, Florida on January 5, 2025.

She was born and grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She married Earl H. Haan and moved to Lansing where she had two children. After their divorce, she raised her children as a single mother for 10 years, went back to school and earned her GED. She was a skilled typist and stenographer, running the clerical office of a trucking company.

She married Jerry Hodges in 1968, and together they worked hard and raised their blended family. In 1976, she and Jerry left Lansing to start a new life in Martin County, Florida. After managing the old Palms Motel for a year, they built a lock and distribution business called Keymart, which they later sold. They lived in Hobe Sound 23 years and then moved to Miles Grant in Stuart. She spent the last two years of her life at Discovery Village of Stuart. Jeanine loved playing cards, especially euchre, with her kids and grandkids. She played competitive bridge within her community and online. She enjoyed fishing and camping, a love of which she left with her children and grandchildren. In Florida she picked up golf and played with her husband as a member of the Miles Grant Country Club and the Martin County Golf Course (Sailfish Sands). She was an avid reader, especially of mystery and romance novels and the local newspaper.

She is survived by her son, Rick A. Haan and his wife Linda, of Palm City, her daughter Terri (Haan) Hidecker and her husband Doug, of Leroy, Michigan, her daughter Kelli (Hodges) Marcum Ausem, of Stuart; seven grandchildren Justin Haan, Aaron Haan, Michelle Haan Zelen, Stephanie Devoe, Samantha Lorusso, Kim Hodges, Jr., and Kendra Wieger; and ten great grandchildren. Jeanine is predeceased by
her husband of 54 years, Jerry Hodges, and her first husband Earl Haan.

Services will be held privately.
