Joanne Island, 79 passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at her home in Stuart, Florida surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her three children; David and his wife Tracy, Curt and his wife Erin and her daughter Lynn Shouse and her husband David; and her grandchildren; Kristen, Steven, Emily, Bobby, Matthew, Olivia, Jack and Phoebe.  Joanne was a sister to John Curtis and an aunt to Liz, Jean, Jack, Susan, Jenny and John Jr.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Clark, who passed away in September 2015.

Joanne was born in Meriden, Connecticut where she attended Meriden High School and earned an Associate's degree from Lasell College.  Joanne raised her family with husband Clark in Trumbull, Connecticut.  Joanne was active in her community and was a member at Grace Episcopal Church where she served as an Episcopal Eucharist Lay Leader and church secretary.  After raising her children Joanne began a professional career and worked at Howe Furniture in Trumbull as a marketing executive.

Joanne called Florida her home for the past 15 years and was an active member of Treasure Coast Community Singers and a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution.  Joanne was an avid golfer and a member at Heritage Ridge Golf Club and participated in a number of different golf leagues.  In her spare time Joanne volunteered at the Lyric Theatre.

Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services in celebration of Joanne's life on December 29 at 11 AM at Palm City Presbyterian Church, 2700 SW Martin Highway, Palm City, Florida. Interment will take place at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden, Connecticut at the convenience of the family.
