A Time to be Born
Joe L. Mackey Jr. began his journey of life on August 27, 1949 in Colquitt, Georgia. He was the first born child of Mattie Mackey and Joe Mackey Sr., offering pride and joy to the young couple.

A Time to Plant
For over 15 years, Joe joined and maintained membership with the New Covenant Deliverance Leadership congregation under Bishop Ralph Grissett, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 2012, he relocated to Port St. Lucie, FL and placed his membership at the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, in Stuart, Florida. There he was a diligently active, faithful steward until he was called home.

A Time to Achieve
At age two, his family relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Joe's educational career flourished from grade school through college attending well known educational institutions such Walker Elementary, Wingate Middle, and Dillard High School. Finally, he summed up his studies at Prospect Hall University on February 24, 1979, earning an Associate in Specialized Business degree.

A Time to Unite and Create
May 20, 1977 Joe wedded Lillie Mills and began one of the most beautiful endeavors in life. He enjoyed 39 years of marriage and fatherhood, encompassing a total of six children, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A Time to Work
The years 1969 through 1973, he left home to fulfill his responsibilities to society by offering four years of service within the United States Air Force. Upon returning home, Joe worked as a water meter maintenance technician until he secured employment with the City of Fort Lauderdale Five Ash water Department. Upon achieving his degree, he was selected as Senior Engineer and Manager of City of Fort Lauderdale Peele Dixie Water Department; in which he remained until retirement.

A Time to Rest
Everyone who knew Joe was aware that his favorite pass time was fishing. Before and during his retired years, (in his words) he "fished for fun, fished for sport, and fished for support" by regularly participating in fishing tournaments.

A Time to Die
Early Saturday morning, December 10, 2016, Brother Mackey negotiated his final battle and achieved earthly peace. He has now joined his father and other beloved ones that have transitioned to indefinite rest.

A Time to Mourn
Today, Brother Joe L Mackey Jr. offers a large collection of family and friends to mourn his loss. His immediate family tree has several branches, which includes: Wife - Lillie Mackey; Six children - Anthony Mathis (Rebecca Mathis) , Nechele Horton (Troy Horton), Courtlon Gipson, Joe Ewald (Tanja Ewald), Alexis Williams (Memphis Williams Jr.), Ashley Mackey; Ten grandchildren - Ciara Hunte (Andre Hunte), Michael Westbrook, Christian Jackson, Marquarius Jackson (Cynthia Jackson), Anthony Mathis Jr., Alexander Mackey, Justin Ewald, Alexa Mathis, Jordon Williams, Tiffany Ewald; Great-grandchildren - Andre Hunte, Jose Palacios, Lola Jackson; Additional immediate family includes: Mother - Mattie Lee Mackey, Sisters - Ernestine Eubanks, Ruth Mackey, Linda Jacobs (Cleveland Jacobs); Brothers - Leon Mackey (Linda Mackey), Henry Mackey, Emmanuel Mackey, Marvin Mackey (Dana Mackey). With a great host of endless love ones encompassing aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, and extended families, Joe Mackey Jr. will be truly missed.
