John R. Desmarais, 84, of Spanish Lakes One, in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at his home.

Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he had been a Florida resident for 14 years, coming from Chicopee, Massachusetts.

He honorably served his country as a member of the United Sates Army.  A Plumber by trade, he was employed in the Engineering Department of Mount Holyoke College, prior his retirement.

John enjoyed fishing, the beach, and everything about the Florida lifestyle.  He was a member of the Spanish Lakes One Shuffleboard League.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donna Desmarais of Port Saint Lucie; his children, Mark Desmarais of West Springfield, Massachusetts, Robin Canterbury and her husband, Bryan of Russell, Massachusetts, Wendy Geraci and her husband, Jeff of Olney, Maryland, and Richard Besse and his wife, Dawn of Alabaster, Alabama; his grandchildren, Brittany, Tiffany, Tyler, Candace, and Craig; and his great-grandchildren, Isaias, Angelise, Roman, Cassidy, and Ava.

He is also survived by his brothers, Norman Desmarais of Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Rene Desmarais and his wife, Jane also of Chicopee; and his sisters, Yvette Campbell of Conway, South Carolina, Elaine Moody of Grove City, Ohio, and Marie Dubois and her husband, Art of Chicopee, Massachusetts.

John also wanted to let Tom Zielinski, Bob Fournier, and Bill Williams, know they were his three best friends.

Services and Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Massachusetts.
