John (Jack) Cowles Dozier of Deltaville, Virginia and Stuart, Florida, died February 13, 2014 after a 2 ½ year battle with colon cancer at the age of 67.

He is survived by his always supportive wife of nearly 45 years, Craig Patterson Dozier, and two sons Edward (Ned) Lee Dozier II (Lorrie) of Annapolis, Maryland and John (Skipper) Cowles Dozier, Jr. (Holly) of Mooresville, North Carolina. Additional survivors include two sisters, Ann Dozier Williams (Morris) of Greenville, South Carolina and Ruth Dozier Perry (Charles) of Hilton Head, South Carolina, mother-in-law Alice Gullick of Greenville, South Carolina, brother-in-law William (Bill) Patterson (Julie) of Richmond, Virginia, and seven nieces and nephews.

Jack was a graduate and lifelong supporter of Christchurch School in Middlesex County, Virginia and Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. A lifelong boater, he was able to work around the water he loved as the owner of the Dozier Yachting Centers marinas in Deltaville and Urbanna, Virginia and the Waterway Guide publications. He was a member of the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club, Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, and Virginia Yacht Club, the latter of which elected him as their youngest commodore in club history.
