John Jacob "j.j." Rivera, 69, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at his home.

Affectionately known as "j.j." he was born in New York City, New York, and had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie, for seven years, coming from Clarksville, Tennessee.
A disabled veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in United States Air Force, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #12, of Coral Gables, Florida, the American Legion Post #0098, of Saint Paul Park, Minnesota, and the Vietnam Veterans of America in Florida.

Prior to his retirement, "j.j." was a Junior High School Teacher in the Manhattan, New York School District.

Survivors include his beloved wife of thirty years, Livia Galletti, of Port Saint Lucie; one son, Diego Rivera, of Asheville, North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Libertad Gonzalez, of Port Saint Lucie; his longtime friend and co-worker, Juan Martinez, also of Port Saint Lucie: and his two favorite canine companions, Mena, and Nena.

Services and Interment will be at the convenience of the family from the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory of Stuart, Florida.
