John Henry Lamplough passed away just before sunrise on October 20, 2017 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart surrounded by his three children following a short illness. He was born on January 29, 1937 in Brooklyn New York, a first generation United States Citizen, to Eric (London, England) and Kathleen (Belfast, Ireland) Lamplough who had immigrated to the United States several years earlier. Growing up in Brooklyn he attended grammar school at the Berkley Institute until the age of seven. He would tell stories of his mother sending him on the subway alone, counting the stops before getting off and going up to buy milk and other needs, then returning home counting the same number of stops.

Leaving Brooklyn in 1944 near the end of WWII, he spent two years living on a US military base in Trinidad BWI, where his father was sent as a civilian employee for the government in radio communications. Upon returning to the U.S. his family would settle in Hauppauge, NY where he would spend the rest of his youth and meet several lifelong friends. He graduated from Smithtown High School in 1954 and a few weeks later, at age 17, immediately enlisted (with his mother's permission and signature) in the U.S. Air Force which started his love for aviation and electronics and following an honorable discharge in 1958 and returning home he began studying for his engineering degree in electronics. It must be noted that soon after returning to civilian life, John had the unfortunate burden of bearing a strong resemblance to Elvis Presley and was sought after by scouts from Romance and Secret magazine (just a face for the story) for occasional photo shoots which he agreed to and was paid for over the next several years. He worked for Hazeltine Corp. and later, The Brookhaven National Laboratory during the day to support his family and took classes at Hofstra University and then Long Island University at night. It would take almost seven years to earn his Engineering Degree which he completed in 1967 and was soon hired as an Avionics Engineer by Grumman Aircraft Systems and would remain a part of the Grumman family over the next 30 years. In 1969 Grumman transferred him to Stuart, Florida where he would spend the rest of his life living on the Treasure Coast.

John loved his children, his work, fishing, aviation, casinos, photography, reading, travel and life, not necessarily in that order. He enjoyed working well into his seventies and spent his free time enjoying his other loves all of which he did well, even getting his private pilot's license shortly after turning 50, he loved flying. Unfortunately (or maybe not) the one thing in which he was not successful was staying married but had many loves in his life (y'all know who you are) and was happy and content.

A beloved Dad, he is survived by his three children, son John E. Lamplough (Jill) of Jensen Beach, Florida, daughter Joanne Snyder (Ron) of Vilas, North Carolina, and son Dr. Henry Lamplough (Scarlett) of Sanford, Florida. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

An Interment will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard on May the 4 ^th (be with you) at 1430 (2:30 pm) sharp, followed by a gathering of family and friends for a "Time to Say Good-bye" on his final flight.
