IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Cameron
Mcghee
November 1, 1943 – September 24, 2023
John Cameron McGhee, age 79, of Stuart , Florida passed away September 24, 2023.
John was born in Miami on November 1, 1943. He had a wild youth growing up in Coconut Grove, where his love of fishing began helping out in his grandfather's "Bait and Tackle" store. After high school John enlisted in the Army and served in Germany. Following his discharge he was open to anything and everything spending years traveling for various companies in marketing and sales positions.
His passion for fast and sporty cars, along with the swagger he developed open doors in Ford, Toyota, Jaguar and Mercedes dealerships. Once he became proficient in auto auctions, he started his own company followed by many other business enterprises. He became a Real Estate Broker, selling, buying, renovating, flipping and holding properties. He was a true entrepreneur.
John moved to Stuart in 1980 after finding a home for his wife Pat, children and of course, the sailboat. Being on the water was a must and taking countless trips to the Bahamas or up and down the Florida coastline was a big part of family life. John was passionate about fishing, boating, shopping, bowling. He believed that "if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing." He was an advocate for green living and supporting local businesses. But nothing fulfilled him more than being part of AA. This opened him to self discovery and a pursuit of spirituality. He immersed himself in world religions, joined Bible studies and, later in life, chose to be baptized. Far form losing his swag, he came to know service to others as the highest calling. His motto "Faith over Fear" coined his life.
John is survived by his brother, Lon, his wife of 46 years, Patricia, his children, Kym, Mindy and Skip and his grandchildren, Paul, Dana, Marcalla, Cole, Breana and Shaine. He will be deeply missed.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 15th 2 PM - 4 PM Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club, 4725 SE Capstan Avenue, Stuart, FL.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in John's memory to Audubon of Martin County.
