John Thomas McGovern, 84, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at his home.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a longtime New Jersey resident, until retiring to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. John was most recently a resident of the Brennity at Tradition community, coming from Palm City, Florida.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Maxwell House Coffee in their Hoboken, New Jersey Office.

John was a member of the United States Naval Reserve, the Knights of Columbus, a Scout Master with Boy Scouts of America, and the Knights of Hibernia, all while living in New Jersey.

He was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Port Saint Lucie.

Survivors include his beloved and devote wife of sixty-three years Rose McGovern of Port Saint Lucie; one daughter, Linda Ann Silbernagel, and her husband, Mark of Jefferson Township, New Jersey; two sons, Jay McGovern, and his wife, Joy of Jupiter, Florida, and Kenneth McGovern, and his wife, Sarah of Burlington, North Carolina; one brother, Michael Francis McGovern of Vernon, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Stephen, Samantha, Kyle, Trevor, Nolan, and Claire; and two great-grandchildren, Zack, and Kinley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 930 SW Tunis Avenue, Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
