Obituary

Joseph R. Blair, 79 of Stuart passed away July 13, 2016 under the exceptional care of Treasure Coast Hospice at Harper House in Stuart.

Joe was born December 17, 1936 in Greenfield, Massachusetts to Joseph Blair, father and Clara Bedore Blair, mother. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1954.

Joe entered the U. S. Air Force March 31, 1955 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, awarded for demonstration of honesty, efficiency and fidelity. He was honorably discharged on March 16, 1959 and continued available service with the Air Force Reserve until March 30, 1960.

He married Gloria Goodwin on January 23, 1960.

Joe retired from Commercial printing at the age of 62, continuing to work part time for years.

He moved to Stuart, Florida in 2007, coming from Florence, Massachusetts. Joe attended College Church in North Hampton, Massachusetts and North Stuart Baptist Church in Florida. Joe also sang barbershop quartet for years both in Massachusetts and Florida, most recently singing with the Mariner Sands Barbershop Chorus in Stuart.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; son, Joey Blair of East Hampton, Massachusetts; daughter, Jill Wuerth and husband, Mark of Palm City, Florida; sister, Betty Barlow of Greenfield, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Colin Quinn of Colorado; Ryan and Paige Wuerth of Palm City.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Blair.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 821 SE Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Stuart, Florida 34994 or to the House of Hope, 2484 SE Bonita Street, Stuart, Florida 34997.

A Committal Service will be held at 1:30 PM, August 12, 2016 at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road #7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449 with Dr. Bob Searl officiating. Military Honors and Presentation of the Flag will be provided by the United States Air Force Military Honor Guard.
