Joseph P. Janssen, Sr, 75, of Port St Lucie, Florida passed away July 17, 2014 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie since 1990, coming from Colwyn, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army.
He worked for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He also started his own painting & papering company.
He loved his Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles, golfing, fishing, gardening, the Palm Beach Kennel Club and all his greyhounds, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family traveling to the beach, playing cards, and displaying his Lionel train collection.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Janet (Stewart) of 48 years, son Joseph Jr., daughters Lisa Arriola (Mike), Suzanne, and his Greyhounds Amy and Waco. He is also survived by his sister Fran Travers and a wealth of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Frances Janssen, brothers Len, Ted, and sister, Cass.
Celebration of his Life and a Scattering will be done privately by the family.
