Joseph Vincent Mannino's Obituary
Joseph Mannino, 94, of Saint Lucie West, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2015 in the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Fort Pierce, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ursula von Frantzius Mannino; his sons, Dr. Vincent J. Mannino and his wife, Susan and Stephen D. Mannino and his wife Michele; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Paul, Christopher and Julia Mannino. He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia Altieri Mannino.
His brother, Anthony Mannino and his wife, Florence, survives him as does his sister, Josephine Randazzo. Ursula's three children, Ted von Frantzius and his wife,Sharon, Barbara "Barbi" Malady and her husband, David, and Ralph von Frantzius and his wife, Jean, do also survive Joe, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was cherished "Uncle Joe" to his many nieces and nephews.
Joe was born in Brooklyn, raised in Philadelphia and was a longtime resident of Haverford, Pennsylvania and Little Silver, New Jersey.
Joe served with distinction in World War II as an Air Force Navigator and flew an extraordinary 42 combat missions in the Southwest Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters and authorized Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with four bronze stars. He received a personal letter of commendation from the Commanding General of the 13th Air Force.
Joe graduated from Temple University with a degree in Accounting and worked as a Certified Public Accountant and Comptroller for his entire working career.
While living in New Jersey, Joe enjoyed boating and served two terms as Commodore of the Shrewsbury River Yacht Club in Fair Haven, New Jersey.
He retired to Florida in 1986.
