Joesph Nieznanski "Sarge" WWII and Korea Vet Dies at 87

Joseph Chester Nieznanski, US Army and US Navy Seabees, died August 8th, 2014 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart Fl. Born in Juliett Illinois on March 24th 1927, son of Vincent and Mary (Wawczak) Nieznanski, "Sarge" served in World War II in the Pacific with the Seabees. He then served four years of combat in the US Army during the Korean War, retiring after 21 years of service.

"Sarge" played on the US Army Golf Team. In 1965, he met his long time best friend Chi Chi Rodriguez. He caddied with Chi Chi for 40 years on the PGA tour. In recent years, he retired to the Treasure Coast.

"Sarge" is survived by his wife Mary Lou Wire-Nieznanski, his children Margaret, David, Joseph, John, Kevin, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held in November in addition to a military honors burial at the South Florida National Cemetery.

"Sarge" supported the Chi Chi Rodriguez's Foundation mission to help struggling children reach their highest potential. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation 3030 N. McMullen Booth Rd. Clearwater, Fl 33761
