Joseph T. "Telephone Joe" McCaughey, 63, of Stuart, Florida, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart.

Born in Zanesville, Ohio, he had been a resident of Stuart for 42 years, coming from his birthplace.

Affectionately known as "Telephone Joe", he was employed by AT&T, for 42 years as a Service Technician in Martin County and Jupiter, Florida.

He served his country as a member of the United States Army, stationed in German, during the Vietnam Era.

Joe was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3896 in Stuart, the Moose Lodge #1282 also in Stuart, the AMVETS Post #92 in Jensen Beach/Rio.

Joe was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved to sing karaoke.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Pamela A. McCaughey; 1 son, Carl McCaughey, of Palm City, Florida; and 2 grandchildren, Riley and Payton.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Treasure Coast Presbyterian Church, 203 SW Third Street, Stuart.

On Sunday, March 2nd, Post #92 AMVETS members, will pick-up Pam and Joe's cremains, and take him for his "Final Ride" to a Celebration of His Life at 2:00pm at the Stuart Moose Lodge, 1282 Indian Street, Stuart, Florida.
