Julio Amalbert, 78, of Port St. Lucie, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

He was born July 1941 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the late Julio and Fidelina Amalbert. Julio graduated from New Jersey City University in 1976 and received a BA degree in Secondary Education. Before relocating to Port St. Lucie Florida in 2013, he resided in Northern New Jersey for most of his life.

Julio was a high school Spanish teacher at Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School in Jersey City, New Jersey until he retired in 2003.

Affectionately referred to as 'Señor' both by his students and faculty alike, he taught Honors and Advance Placement courses in Spanish. He also taught courses in Advanced Placement Spanish literature. Always passionate about making a difference in the lives of his students, he was the faculty advisor to the Spanish Club, Yearbook Committee, and numerous high school student educational trips to Europe.

A world traveler himself, his journeys included Russia, Finland, Germany, Morocco, Spain, United Kingdomd, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Bermuda, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Johns, Martinique, Estonia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Nassau, and Granada.

Predeceasing Julio are his parents, brothers, and sister.

Julio is survived by his friend Carlos Hernandez, daughter Raquel (Pebbles) Farrell, her husband Steven, his sister Elenia Amalbert, and his "granddog" Riley.
