Kathryn Elizabeth Boyer, age 88 of Rogers, AR passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 2, 2013. She was born August 3, 1924 in Harvey, IL, daughter of the late Charles and Elsie (Wild) Saeger. Kathryn was a graduate of Thornton Twp. High School in Harvey, IL and DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. Kathryn was a school teacher for 14 years, teaching 3rd and 4th grade in Sauk Village, IL. She was very active in many outreach ministries at her church, St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Rogers, AR, including the food pantry, backpacks, and rummage sales and was a key member in developing the church's columbarium, where she will be laid to rest. She was also in the hand bell choir and loved music, gardening, dancing and working in her flower gardens. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing, was an avid reader and more than anything else enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. On February 8, 1947 in Harvey, IL, Kathryn was united in marriage to her loving husband of 66 years, Emmett E. Boyer, who survives. Also surviving are her 10 children, Carol Sinks of Fort Myers, FL, Gloria & Brian Jones of LaPorte, IN, Susan & James Brown of Rogers, AR, Bruce & Sandy Boyer of Munster, IN, David Boyer of Springfield, IL, Marcia Boyer of Palmyra, WI, Paul & Nancy Boyer of Irvine, CA, Joyce & Rich DeFrancesco of Hobe Sound, FL, Lorna & Scott Imbery of Copper Canyon, TX and Charles & Vickie Boyer of Rogers, AR; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and several granddogs. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Skyler Sue Gibson; brother, Harold Saeger and a sister, June-Gayle Miralles. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on a later date at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Rogers, AR.
