Keith passed away April 10th, 2015, peacefully at home with family by his side at the age of 74.
He was born in East Angus, Quebec, February 16, 1941.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, married 51 golden years, his children Steven and his wife Nancy Steele, Kim and her husband Angelo Panourgias and three grandchildren Caitlynn, Andrew and Alex. He will be sadly missed by his brother Bob (Robert) Willard and his wife Sherrill, along with extended family and friends.
Keith was the retired Chairman and CEO of Zeneca Inc. in Wilmington Delaware. His long career included management roles with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada in both Montreal and Toronto, leading the Human Resource Division at Wardair International in Toronto, and then was President of ICI in Toronto. Keith sat on a number of board positions in his retirement, including chairing the board at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware, and was an active board member for Inhibitex Inc.. in Georgia.
Keith enjoyed volunteering his time to assist in his community.
He had a passion for aviation, and had his small plane pilot license, flying Cessna 172's in his younger years. He transitioned his piloting skills from planes to yachting, and Keith and Barbara had a number of years of wonderful yachting trips from the Chesapeake Bay area, to Lake Ontario, and to Florida. He finally traded his pilot cap for a set of golf clubs, very happily settling into a great retirement lifestyle at Harbor Ridge Yacht and Country Club in Palm City, Florida. Keith and Barbara have developed a wonderful community of friends, all of whom will miss his friendship, competitive spirit, and great sense of humor.
Some of Keith's fondest family memories were made at his family cottage in Eagle Lake, Ontario. He and his brother Bob, along with parents Allen and Marion built this family legacy in the early 1960's and it continues to this day to provide lasting family experiences. Keith's remains will rest peacefully at this family retreat.
We will celebrate Keith's life with a gathering of friends and family in Toronto, Ontario, to be arranged.
In lieu of flowers, contributions as a memorial would be appreciated to the American or Canadian Cancer Society. An option is to support grandson Andrew Panourgias' fundraising for his grandfather through Minor Hockey Fights Cancer (a Canadian Cancer Society Fund).
While we have deep sadness that Keith has passed, we would like to take some time to celebrate the wonderful life that he had.
His life touched many people and we look forward to sharing some stories and laughter while remembering the good times shared together with family and friends.
