The world lost one of its sweetest, most gentle souls on September 27, 2016, with the passing of Kenneth A. Kubeck, 69, (Pittsburgh, PA) from natural causes.

While outwardly quiet, Ken would never fail to amaze his friends and family with his sharp wit and humor that never failed to make them laugh, or scratch their head in amazement. He was filled with kindness and loved making the people around him happy.

Ken enjoyed his life with his wife, best friend and the love of his life, Karol Kubeck. Their love for each other was evident to all. The twinkle in their eyes let you know they were more in love with each other each day than the day before.

Ken was proud to have served his country as a member of the U.S. Marines.

Ken's creative spirit led him into a career building custom homes until his retirement when he fell in love with Florida State Parks after volunteering at Honeymoon Island State Park. This love led to a post retirement career with the Florida Park Service until his second retirement in 2007. Even in his retirement he was still using his hands and heart to build for family and friends, and anyone in need.

Ken always rooted for the underdog and anyone in need and said he had been blessed with so much in his life that he believed in volunteering and giving back. Ken and Karol volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Angel Food Ministries. Clients became friends and they just loved seeing Ken carrying the heavy boxes of food into their homes, along with his beautiful smile and kind, encouraging words.

In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his sons Kenny (Kim) and their children Sydney and Hayden, Chris (Theresa) and their children Chloe and Reef, and Tim (Talia) and their daughter Everly.

A great day for Ken was checking out the local thrift stores for a hidden treasure and hoping to see some of his favorite four-legged friends in the Humane Society Thrift Store. He would get down on his knees and bark and his furry friends would come running to him. His fur babies were his shadow, always by his side and loved him as much as the humans in his life. He lovingly joked that he "Loved animals more than humans".

Ken touched the world with his positive light in many ways, leaving a legacy of class and love and will be missed beyond words can ever convey.

Ken and Karol would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all close friends and medical team members who have offered their support and love throughout the years. You made a huge difference in our lives and we truly appreciate you. A special thanks to our "Angel that walks the earth" Claudia, for showing us unconditional love, humor and extraordinary care during the good and bad times. We are so blessed to have you as a member of our family.

Family and friends will celebrate Ken's life on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the family home.
