IN LOVING MEMORY OF
L.C. Campbell,
Jr.
May 27, 1948 – January 31, 2022
Pastor L.C. Campbell, Jr. of Stuart, Florida was welcomed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2022, at the age of 73 with his family gathered around him. L.C. was born on May 27, 1948 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Lloyd C. & Dorothy Campbell and later was blessed with his younger sister, Pamela. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1966 where he played 3rd base on the Rebels State Championship Team. He began leading music in church at the young age of 15. He married Gail Bass on December 22, 1967 in Chattanooga and then moved to Oklahoma City to attend Oklahoma Baptist University and was the music minister at their church. In 1970, L.C. accepted the youth pastor position at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia and it was there that they welcomed their first daughter, Lori, in March 1971. God then led L.C. to South Florida to First Baptist Church of Stuart as the music and youth minister where he served for 6 years and where they welcomed their second daughter, Casi, in November 1972. On Memorial Day Weekend in 1972, Pastor L.C. was invited to Outdoor Resorts on Nettles Island to lead a worship service. This grew into what is now Nettles Island Church where he preached his last message on January 2, 2022. While at First Baptist, he also started First Baptist Christian School in 1974, which still exists and is thriving today. In 1978, L.C. had to move back to Chattanooga to help the family business after his father's heart attack. About a year later, God called him to Northside Baptist Church in McMinnville, Tennessee where he served as lead pastor. In 1981, L.C. was asked to come back to Stuart, Florida by his dear friend, Dr. Jim Buttles, to start a new church, which he ended up being the founding pastor of Covenant Fellowship Baptist Church until 1997. He spent the next 8 years serving as full-time chaplain of the Martin County Sheriff's Office where he ministered to hundreds that found themselves in tragic situations and he would become the calm within their storm. During all this time of being back in Stuart, he was preaching sermons every Sunday morning early before his other services at Nettles Island Church. Next to serving others with his whole being and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his passions were photography, fine writing instruments, The Tennessee Volunteers and all things Apple. L.C. fulfilled God's calling on his life to full-time ministry as a pastor, but not only as a pastor to his church but a pastor to pastors and our whole entire community. He for sure heard from his Heavenly Father, "well done, my good and faithful servant!"
L.C. was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd C. & Dorothy Campbell.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Gail; his two adoring daughters, Lori Baker and Casi Brush; son-in-law, Norm Brush; Grandchildren, Mackenzie Baker, Reese Baker, Jake Brush, Lyla Brush and Little Jax; sister, Pamela Andrews; brother-in-law, Ross Andrews;
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 5 pm - 8 pm at Christ Fellowship Church, 10205 Pratt Whitney Rd, Stuart, FL 34997.
