Leonard Wiktor Szczawinski of Port St. Lucie, passed peacefully in his sleep at 12:30 AM, on December 11, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Ft. Pierce. Leonard was born May 5, 1923, in Kalisz, Poland, to Waldislaw & Pelagia Dul Szczawinski. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Ludmila.

He is also survived by their 4 children, a daughter Nina Lawless of Port St. Lucie; sons, Ted and his wife Christina of Little Falls, NJ; Mark and his wife Erin, of Lutherville, MD; Christopher Carrasco and his wife Joann of New Bern, NC; and 6 grandchildren, Jacob, Grace, Peyton, Brendan, Jessica & Victoria.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Veshia and his brother Jerzy.

Leonard was a WWII veteran, an inventor, a grocer, and a builder. He was a 30 year resident of PSL, where he lived since retiring from New Jersey in 1990.

He loved his family, his home, his country and especially his God. He remains in our hearts will always be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

A mass to celebrate his life will take place at St. Lucie Catholic Church on Monday, December 17, at 11AM.
