Leroy Therman Crouch passed away on December 10, 2017 at the age of 84, at Tradition Medical Center in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He was born on December 28, 1932 to Jake Leroy Crouch and Lassie Viola Crouch in Dania, Florida. He grew up in the same house he was born in and spent his childhood being a typical boy! He told stories of riding his horse down the dirt roads of his street and finding the best fishing holes with his friends.

He graduated from South Broward High School in 1950 and went on to college at John Brown University in Arkansas for one semester before coming back closer to home where he attended University of Florida in Gainesville. Uncle Sam came calling shortly after that and he enlisted in the Navy Aviation Cadet program to become a pilot where he was a part of the drill team that performed in sporting events. Before his first solo flight, he dropped out and decided to stick with the regular US Navy. In 1953, just before he shipped out for a cruise around the world on the USS Hornet, he and his wife, Alice Pauline, were married in Mulberry, Florida. A year later, he returned home and they began their lives in the house they would live in for over 50 years. They welcomed a daughter, Melody Le, in 1958 while he was attending University of Miami. He began his career with the Broward County School Board in the early 60's as a temporary draftsmen and advanced through the years to the position of Director of Facility Planning and stayed there until he retired in 1995. In his retirement, he picked up a love for tomato farming as well as building model trains. He continued his love of fishing that began when he was just a boy. He served as music director as well as an ordained deacon for Dania Heights Baptist Church. He worked on the revising of the plans for the church building as well as being the architect for the bell tower that still stands on the front lawn of the church today. He helped form the revival team made up of musicians and pastors that traveled the United States bringing the good news of our Lord with Pastoral Ministries. He was the pianist and soloist for Gardens Baptist Church in West Hollywood until he and Pauline relocated to Port Saint Lucie, Florida to be closer to their daughter and grandkids. He then served with Nettles Island Church in Jensen Beach, Florida as their keyboardist and soloist.

He is survived by his wife and daughter. Along with grandson, Stephen Lance VanArsdale of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Judge (Bryan) of Winter Springs, Florida and great-grandson Jensen Dean Judge. His younger sister, Barbara Gillis of Melbourne, Florida as well as many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother and son that died at birth.

There will be a Graveside Service on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Dania Memorial Park, 324 West Dixie Highway, Dania Beach, Florida, with Military Honors and Presentation of the Flag by the United States Navy following.

Immediately following the service, there will be a time of fellowship at Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor in Dania Beach, Florida. There will also be a special time of remembrance and tribute to Leroy at Nettles Island Church in Jensen Beach, Florida during their Hymn Sing on February 11, 2018.
